About Me

Hello there !

My name is Elizabeth and I am from Ireland.

I created this blog to share my travel experiences and photographs. I am from Co. Wicklow, which is on the east coast of Ireland and is called “The Garden of Ireland”. It’s extremely beautiful with sandy beaches, mountains and lots of historic sites.

In Ireland we have a long history of immigration but while I come from a large extended family, I don’t have as many relatives living abroad as Irish people usually have.

I moved to London after I left college and lived and worked there for 8 years. In 1996, I started working for the Walt Disney Company, embarking on a career which would change my life drastically. I worked for Disney for 23 years and was relocated to Los Angeles and had an 11 month secondment in Paris. At Disney I worked on a lot of International projects which included travelling to 15 countries on work assignments. I had 13 jobs during my 23 year career and changed disciplines several times, working in Finance and Technology, supporting Content Protection and Film Production.

In 2018 I made the decision to leave Disney and the US. I wanted to move closer to Ireland but also have the experience living in another country. After a bit of little of research and a 7 week trip, I decided to make Lake Como in Italy my home for the foreseeable future. I had an interesting first year, between starting to learn Italian, purchasing and renovating my house and working as an Event Planner at a local villa. However, after my Father passed away following a short illness and the COVID pandemic started, I stayed in Ireland for awhile. I am now back living in Italy so the time seemed right to launch this blog. I have travelled to 43 countries, have lived in 5 and have a long list of places to visit over the next few years.

As well as being an avid traveller, I love photography, am a huge sports fan, I walk and hike a lot and always have my kindle with me. I have been lucky to travel to some great locations to incorporate my hobbies. I have travelled extensively to attend sporting events and have been on some amazing hikes.

I am a middle child and my Mother always said I was very independent from a young age. While I have travelled with friends and family, the majority of the time I am travelling alone. Traveling solo isn’t for everyone and while I sometimes do get lonely, I always have my kindle with me. Losing myself in a book, helps me cope with travel delays and acts as a shield when I need to be invisible. I have been vegetarian for all of my adult life and while I love my food, that can add an additional complication in some places.

My blog contains my own personal reviews of the cities and countries I have been to, with some of the photographs I have taken to highlight uniquenesses. I have had some amazing experiences along the way, so have shared some short stories, which I hope will amuse you and add additional colour and flavour. Please note, that none of my stories are professionally edited, so please be gentle with me ! I also have included my travel tips and quirks which I hope will help you.

While everything on my blog is my own opinion based on my experiences, I would love to hear any comments or feedback you would like to share with me.

Thanks for visiting and reading and happy travelling, bon viaggio
